Once again, the International Music Course is here in Llanes, a course which celebrated its thirtieth anniversary last year and which has become in its own right one of the most important events on the municipality’s calendar, undoubtedly deserving our recognition and support .
Thanks to all the effort, work and enthusiasm invested in this event every year, the course has become one of the most important in its kind during the Summer periodin Spain.
We would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere welcome to the new Director of the Course, Carlos Galán Lago, trusting that he will continue the excellent work carried out by José Ramón Hevia, Founding Director of the course in 1987 and currently Emeritus Director and Institutional Relations’ Supervisor of the course.
As in previous editions, the Cello International Contest Villa de Llanes will be held all throughout the 23rd, 24th and 25th of August. In addition, true to the administration’sfull commitment to growth and improvement, this edition will include a novelty: two new disciplines will now be offered, the Orchestral Repertoire and Baroque Cello.
As in every year, within this section, dedicated to classical music in our municipality, several concerts and open auditions will be heldby both students and teachers of the course; all of which have been greatly appreciated by neighbours and tourists alike and have undoubtedly become a classic of the llaniscoSummer.
The International Music Course is, therefore, a great example of a successful initiative, combining both cultural and touristic interest and projecting a postiive image of Llanes that we must all value and recognize.
As the Mayor, I want to express my gratitude and congratulations to the organizers, as well asextending my warmest greetings to all the participants and family members, wishing them to enjoy the music and the many attractions offered by our council.
