Greetings from the mayor
Llanes, 18 June 2021
Llanes gets ready once again to host the celebration of the XXII International Violin Competition, which will take place from 19th to 21th August.
Unfortunately, it is still too early to retake the International Music Course, as we wish, but in the last stages of the pandemic situation it is better to choose prudence and not lower our guard.
Yes, it will return with all its splendor and with that mark of international quality and prestige that has been won through the years wisely directed, first, by José Ramón Hevia (Director Emeritus, Institutional Relations of the Course and Founding Director of the same in the year 1987) and now by Carlos Galán Lago.
But at least we will have the Violin Competition, which is not little, and in Llanes the 13 students who have passed the demanding preliminary phases will meet to be able to compete in the last challenges and win the first prizes.
They come to participate from Spain, Germany, Ukraine and China; and on the jury will be the professors of the course, of recognized prestige in the field of violin, Cibrán Sierra, Aitor Hevia, David Hevia, Anna Baget and Sergey Fatkulin. In addition, in this edition, we will have Miguel Colom, concertmaster of the National Orchestra of Spain, as a guest member of the jury.
Everything is ready for the development of a XXII Llanes International Music Competition that will give us, I am sure, vibrant moments with high quality performances.
Welcome everyone to an exceptional event that projects and creates a modern and open image of the municipality of Llanes.
Enrique Riestra Rozas
