14TH INTERNATIONAL VIOLONCELLO COMPETITION “VILLA DE LLANES” 2012

INFORMATION

(Versión español)

PURPOSE

The Cultural Section of the Llanes City calls for the 14th International Cello Competition "Villa de Llanes" in two different categories:
        
 Category A:  up to 27 years old.
 Category B:  up to 16 years old.

 In addition, the competition has two specialties:

1) Violin
2) Viola
3) Cello

Every year we will run one specialty, this year 2012 corresponds to Cello.

This Competition will be held  in Llanes, at the Main Hall of the High School, C/ Celso Amieva s/n, from 22 to 24 August.

Category  B:

Day 22, at 4 p.m., presentation and beginning of first trial.
Day 23 at  4 p.m., final.

Category A:

Day 23 at 10 a.m., presentation and beginning of first trial.
Day 24 at 10 a.m., final.
Day 24 at 7 p.m., concert and awards presentation.

The rules of the Competition are the same for both categories, except section 2 and works from different trials.

COMPETITION RULES

1º)The Competition is addressed to any young cellists, from all nationalities, who meet the rules of the competition.

2º) Age limit up to January 1st 2012: Category A, 27 years old and Category B, 16 years old.

3º) The competition consists of;

4º) The candidate will submit, at the time of his/her performance, a copy of the score of every work he/she will be playing.

5º) According to the raffle performed by the Organisation Commission of the Competition, the participants will start from letter L, following an ascendant order.

6º)Competitors who took part in previous editions are allowed to participate again, excluding those who were awarded the 1st prize.

7º) The lists of admitted into every modality will be published in the web page www.llanesmusica.com before June 30, 2012.

8º) The applicant must confirm by e-mail the assistance before August 15.

 

PRIZES 

(Category A)

First prize CAJASTUR: 3.000 € and Diploma.
Special prize:Recitals at the Music Week of Cajastur, published and promoted by the Saving Bank and the “Prince of Asturias Foundation”.
Second prize: 1.400 € and Diploma.
Third prize: 630 € and Diploma.
Prize to the best interpreter of Spanish music: 300 € and Diploma.

(Category B)

First prize Ayto. de LLANES: 1.350 € and Diploma.
Second prize: 700 € and Diploma.
Third prize: 400 € and Diploma.
Prize to the best interpreter of Spanish music: 200 € and Diploma.

The amount of the prizes is subjected to the tax regulations in force.

REGISTRATION

The registration form, duly filled in and signed, will be enclosed, as well as:

a) Copy of the applicant’s Identity Card or Passport.
b) Brief "curriculum vitae" and DVD recording
c) Two recent pictures (passport type) with the name of the applicant on the back.
d) Bank receipt corresponding to registration fees of 60 € for category A and 40 € for category B. The registration fees will not be refunded in any case as well as the required documentation.

The request of inscription can be done through the Internet by completing the form that appears on the web page and the rest of the documentation (DVD, Photos, ID card or Passport and Curriculum) must be sent with a receipt or copy of the bank payment before June 20 2012 to:

Applications received after deadline will not be accepted nor returned. In case the organization remarks the lack of any required document, the applicant will be contacted in order to submit it within a maximum delay of fifteen days. After this date, the application will not be accepted.

Participants duties

When an applicant has been accepted into the Competition, the candidate will be immediately obliged to participate in each established trial on the dates and times foreseen for the Competition. An absence ay any of the trials will eliminate the candidate.

Every candidate must bring the necessary instrument or instruments for the competition.

Every candidate will bring his/her accompanying pianist.

The organization will not be responsible for any possible incidents that occur to the musician or to the instrument(s) during the Competition.

The organization does not guarantee the candidate any payment for taking part in the Competition, irrespective of registration fees. Moreover, the candidate will be responsible for transportation expenses and any other during his/her stay, if necessary.

The winners of the competition are obligated to attend to the awards ceremony. In the event a winner is not able to attend, he will relinquish his award.

Jury

The Jury will be composed "of" teachers who are taking part in the INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION OF LLANES, which will be held at the same time. A member of the local government of LLanes will be the Jury’s secretary.

Once the Competition trials are finished, the Jury will decide the prizes awards and may declare some of them void, if they consider it appropriate.

Nevertheless, the resolutions will be final and the Jury will be entitled to solve the questions which were not specifically foreseen in the rules.

The Jury has the rigth to interrupt any work in the that it is considered appropiate.

Candidates are guranteed that all indications displayed on the notice board will be valid.

The audience will be allowed into every trial of the Competition. However, the Jury’s president could evacuate the hall in case of unusual and inconvenient signs of the audience, and continue the trial in private.

Every audio or video recording are forbidden.

Prizewinners Concerts

Only the Organization Committee will nominate the prize winners who will take part in the closing concert, if it is held. These prize winners are obliged to take part in this concert. In the case that a prize winner does not attend , the individual must renounce his/her prize and will not be allowed to cash any money. The Committee will also decide the pieces will be payed. These will be from the selections presented during the Competition.
