14TH INTERNATIONAL VIOLONCELLO COMPETITION “VILLA DE LLANES” 2012

Two trials will be held:

1ª) Preliminary stage.

At this stage, the following works will be played:

a) Prelude and a contrasting movement of JS Bach suites for cello.

b) One of the following works:

• Schumann Adagio and Allegro .
• Seven Variations on a Theme of Beethoven's The Magic Flute.
• First Movement from Sonata Cassadó old style.
• Variations on a Theme of Paganini Rossini.
• Variations Op.4 Franchomme Auguste.

2º) Final stage.

At this stage, the following works will be played:

a) First movement of one of the following concerts:

• Haydn (in C major).
• Sain-Saens (A minor).
• Lalo.
• Elgar.

b) Spanish Obligatory work: "El Pont" by Federico Monpou.

c) Obligatory work: Allegro from Sonata in A major G.4 Luigi Boccherini.

· Every contestant will bring their own accompanying pianist.
· Every work will be played by heart, except the sonatas with piano.
