12TH INTERNATIONAL VIOLA-CELLO COMPETITION “VILLA DE LLANES” 2010
Two trials will be held:
1ª) Preliminary stage.
At this stage, the following works will be played:
a) Prelude and Allemande from Suites no. 1, 2 or 3 by J. S. Bach for solo viola (original for violoncello) or the first two movements of one of the Partitas for solo viola (original for violin).
b) One of the following:
- Fantasia for viola, J. H. HUMMEL
- Andante and Hungarian Rondo, C. M. WEBER
- First movement from sonata in D minor, M. Glinka.
2º) Final stage.
At this stage, the following works will be played:
a) First movement from one of the following concerts:
- Concert in C minor, J.C. BACH.
- Concert, in D Mayor, K. STAMITZ
- Concert in D Mayor, HOFFMEISTER.
b) Obligatory work: Capriccio for Solo Viola, H. Vieuxtemps
Two trials will be held:
1º) Preliminary stage
At this stage, the following works will be played
a) Prelude and sarabande from Suites no. 1, 2 or 3 by J. S. Bach.
b) First movement from one of the following sonatas:
- Anyone by Boccherini.
- Breval, G mayor.
- Sanmartin, G mayor.
- G. Faure, Elegy.
2º)Final stage
At this stage, the following works will be played:
a) First movement to be chosen among the following concerts:
- L. Boccherini, G mayor (Gendrom cadenza)
- C. Saint-Saens, A minor
- E. Lalo, D minor
- E. Elgar, E minor.
- D. Kabalevsky Nº 1, Op. 49 G minor
b) obligatory work: G.Cassado, Requiebros.
· Every contestant will bring their own accompanying pianist.
· Every work will be played by heart, except the sonatas with piano.
